These are tips for getting your house ready to sell to a buyer:

Beautify your Exterior
The goal is to make your exterior look pretty and fresh to impress your buyer. The exterior is the first impression when buyers look at a house. There are two sensory organs of a buyer you must impress their eyes and nose. The landscape of a home will either make the buyer want to go inside or drive off.

These are a few tips you can do yourself:

  • Get the grass, trees, flowers, and plants tidy and fresh by mowing, cutting, and watering
  • Clean up the curb, walkways, and driveways and put the potted flowers on the sides
  • Clean up all windows and door entrances
  • Get rid of equipment and put it out of sight
  • Paint the walls, shutters, and the trim of the house if necessary

Make the Interior Cozy
After the buyer’s impression of the house exterior, do some simple things to get the coziness of your house interior. You should aim to make a buyer feel homelike by entering your house.

These are the steps:

  • Clean up the tile floors; scrub it if there are some bad spots such as grout that has changed colors
  • Get rid of spider webs from your ceilings and corners of baseboards
  • Wash and clean the carpet with a fragrant soap
  • Get your furniture rearranged and get rid of unnecessary furniture (this can also be done by holding a garage/estate sale)
  • Clean the closets
  • Clean the garage, basement, and attic
  • Get the windows opened and clean, it will bring freshness to your house in the inside
  • If you have pets, bath them
  • Put some fresh fragrance in air conditioner (be careful with certain scents for allergy reasons. Stick to scents like lavender, peppermint, or vanilla)

Repairing and Replacing
Some repairing and replacement is necessary to do. If there is some broken furniture, equipment, or appliances. Just throw it out.

  • broken or missing door
  • cabinet handles
  • ceilings
  • ventilation filters
  • broken tiles in bathroom and kitchen
  • faucet
  • wallpaper (consider painting over)
  • some furniture

Get your friends’ opinion. Assume some friends are a buyer and get some advice and suggestions from them to make your house get more ready to sell.

The most important thing is that the buyer feels your home is like their own home.
